Calamari + Goodbye Blogger

This is an impromptu Cyrius comic I drew on the table cloth with crayons at Jack-Astor's Bar & Grill in Halifax a few weeks back. I snapped a shot of it with my phone, and the lighting was terrible. I'm sorry! Also, they had Calamari on the menu there. Hence the joke!

Well, it's been awhile, and I do apologize for that. After having moved to a new town, I then went off and was doing some traveling over the past several weeks, so I've been slack on the comic dept. I should be into a regular flow of comics soon. And in regards to productivity, I have some site-related news......

The news is that my buddy Andy has been working hard to revamp the site so it will be all database driven! (or, how it works in MY mind: "run by fairies!") THIS CHANGE WILL TAKE PLACE IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS, but will not affect the look or navigation of the site at all. So what does this mean for you? Not much, except that any links/bookmarks you had to specific comics will have changed, so be aware of that. Also the RSS feeds for everything will change, but I'll make sure that is all clearly noted. Beyond that it means that my life will have been made way easier! (By fairies!) So cranking out comics will no longer be so labour intensive! I know all this is boring for you, but I had to tell someone!

Self-Esteem

I am in the process of moving and hitting the summertime running. Soooo comic updates will be reduced to once a week for awhile! But I am sure you will get by okay on those rations. I am excited to set up my new studio and crank out the comics! I'll keep you posted! Also, while packing I found the original sketchs of the creation of Cyrius! I will scan and post them soon, and you will discover his origins!

Parents.

Beavers are a pretty fascinating animal, in my books. First off, they are rodents, one of the largest in the world. They mate for life, and the kids live at home for up to 3 years, unheard of in the animal kingdom! Also, the female is the central figure of the beaver family. In hiking through the woods in my childhood home I would often see beaver families, and lodges, and the gnawed trees. The beaver is on the back of our nickel! Beavers: not just slang for vaginas. A bunch of my friends had the EXACT same response to this comic which was "poor sega". Which I find hilarious because I share the sentiment, and it indicates that we all have some bizarre nostalgic attachment to sega genesis.

WHAT TIME IS IT

This is sort of an homage to my Uncle Timmy and my Father. More so my Uncle. I don't usually talk about my Father, as he wasn't the best guy (to put it mildly) and is out of the picture now. However, way back when (when I was about 10ish), we had a few good times, in which he would take me camping a lot, here in Nova Scotia. Also when I was quite young, I would have sleep-overs at my cousins place, and in the morning when we were watching Saturday morning cartoons sometimes my Uncle Tim would come in the living room and say "Guess what time it is!" And we'd get all giggly and say "what time is it!" and he'd say... "It's tickle time!!!" And then the tickle-fest would begin. I assure you it wasn't creepy or scary like this comic. Uncle Timmy was a good guy.

New comic up: Cyrius - "Candy Run"

Actually, a few new comics went up over the last few weeks, including some for the new strip "Peas."

But today is official "relaunch day". I've been working on revamping the site and there is now a "Peas" section, as well as an overall site redesign to make it a little sleeker and simpler. There are new drawings for all the pages too! (like the "about", "contact", "news", etc - I will post the pics here soon) And the Cyrius section has been redesigned as well!

The RSS feeds are up and working again too.
